In many countries, electronics manufacturers are also responsible for collecting the old equipment which are discarded by customers. This is called "Extended Producer Responsibility" and it means manufacturers accept responsibility of the environmental and social impacts of the product throughout its life cycle. (production - use - disposal)

Many companies have "Take Back" Programs that allow customers to return old and unused equipment to buy new items. It’s an important trend because some products just can’t be put into a recycling bin outside of your house. Electronics, in particular, fit into that category.

E-Waste collected by producers with these programs are recycled responsibly at licensed E-waste Recycling facilities. GCL helps both local and international electronics producers with their "Take Back" Programs in Turkey. Every item collected by GCL is recycled properly and detailed "Certificate of Destruction" with model and serial numbers of the items are provided to the producers.

"Product Recall" programs are commonly used these days to withdraw the defected, outdated products or simply the products customers are not satisfied with from the market. Recent research shows that electrical and electronic product recall in the US increased by 20% in 2019. Main reasons are safety issues like risk of fire, risk of electrical shock or quality issues like stability and performance.

GCL assists the producers in the collection of these defected items and ensures these products are kept off from the grey market and recycled responsibly so that producers reputation and brand image are always protected.
